Cables are laid down by using specially-modified ships that carry the submarine cable on board and slowly lay it out on the seabed as per the plans given by the cable operator. Jet trenching provides protection from fishing and other risks, allowing cable stability, which prevents movement on the seabed. video for more info.

The design goal for this project is to find the most effective design for the jet arm, providing strength and increase efficiency when installing the cables.
